The challenge

Access Technology Systems has been in business since 2002. Out of Carrollton, Texas, it installs access control, video surveillance, biometrics and perimeter protection for Fortune 500 manufacturers, federal agencies and critical-infrastructure operators. It is the most credentialed company in this portfolio, and online it looked like a business card.

That gap is the whole reason The Website Factory exists, and it repeats across every industry. A Carmel, Indiana accounting practice with decades of repeat clients. A therapy and psychological testing practice. A DFW remodeler with more than forty years of work behind it and eight trades performed by its own crews. In each case the company was real, established and good at the job, and the website was the weakest thing about it.

The reason is almost never neglect. It is that the site was built once, at

the point when the business was smallest, and never revisited afterwards, because there is no week in which rebuilding it is more urgent than the work in front of you.

What we built

Eight sites across eight industries. Every one has a live link and a screen-recorded walkthrough filmed on the working site, and every link on this page opens the real thing.

The credential problem. Access Technology Systems needed a site that reads like a 24-year enterprise integrator rather than a contact page. Its buyers are procurement teams at Fortune 500 manufacturers and federal agencies, and those buyers arrive already asking whether the company is serious enough to be let inside a sensitive facility. Everything on the rebuilt site answers that question before it answers anything else.

The 72-hour preview. getawebsite.org is not one of the eight sites in the sense the others are. It is the productised service itself, and we run it: a custom small-business website is designed and previewed live inside 72 hours, free, before anyone pays a dollar.

The order there is deliberate. A small business owner cannot judge a

website from a proposal, and asking them to buy one anyway is how most of them end up with a site they quietly dislike.

The practices. Dr. Jennifer LeSure, CPA & Co covers tax, bookkeeping and virtual CFO work in Carmel, Indiana, with decades of repeat clients who never needed convincing. The site was built for everyone else. Change-Well runs therapy and psychological testing, where the job of the site is to make the room feel survivable before anyone books, because the visitor is often deciding whether to ask for help at all.

The trades and the rest. Melada Construction brings more than forty years of DFW remodeling across eight self-performed trades, with a chat agent live on the site so an enquiry at nine at night does not wait until Monday. Evrynite is a solar energy company. Wave Runner Marketing is a growth and content partner. AK.Record is a platform for artists and creators, built on big-type editorial design, which is the only site in the set where the typography is the product.

Every one of them recorded. The walkthroughs are screen recordings taken on the live sites, not animated mockups. A still image proves a design was drawn. A recording of somebody scrolling the actual URL proves it was built, shipped and still loads.

Two defects are open in this set right now, and they belong on the page as much as the rest of it. Change-Well’s counter badge reads zero licensed clinicians while the body copy on the same page says six, because the count-up never fires. Melada Construction’s hero paints blank for roughly three seconds before the image lands. Both are known, both are unfixed as of 15 August 2026, and both are exactly the kind of thing that gets quietly cropped out of an agency portfolio.

What the numbers say

The Website Factory has shipped eight websites across eight industries, and every one of them has a live link and a screen-recorded walkthrough filmed on the working site. That pairing is the whole claim. A screenshot proves a design existed at some point; a walkthrough on a live URL proves the thing loads, scrolls and works today.

Underneath the count, two numbers explain the shape of the practice. Seventy-two hours to a free live preview on getawebsite.org, which is the offer that removes the risk from the buyer and puts it on us. And 24 years, which is how long Access Technology Systems had been securing Texas facilities for Fortune 500 manufacturers, federal agencies and critical-infrastructure operators before the rebuild. That gap between what a company is and what its site says is the reason this practice exists.

Two defects are open across the set as of 15 August 2026, and both are printed above rather than left for a client to find. A portfolio that reports only the parts that went well is not a portfolio, it is advertising.

Why it worked

Because the preview comes before the invoice.

Buying a website is normally a decision made against a proposal, a set of references and a feeling. The buyer commits money first and finds out what they bought weeks later, which is why so many small businesses have a site they never liked and cannot quite bring themselves to replace. Designing and previewing the site live inside 72 hours, at no cost, moves that decision to the only moment it can honestly be made, which is when the thing exists and can be looked at.

The second reason is that eight builds across eight industries is a harder test than eight builds in one. A therapy practice and a truck-scale security integrator need almost nothing in common from a website, and building both means the underlying method has to be about the buyer rather than about a template that suits one vertical.

The takeaway

If you are shopping for a website, ask for a live URL and a walkthrough of it, not a portfolio of images. Open the links on your phone. Time how long the first screen takes to appear. Read the first sentence and ask whether a stranger would know what the company does from it alone. Most of what separates a good small-business site from a bad one is visible in the first ten seconds of doing exactly that.

And do not pay for a design you have not seen. The reason the 72-hour preview is free is that it should be. A designer who is confident about the work has no reason to keep it behind a deposit.

Questions people actually ask

How long does it take to get a small-business website?

On getawebsite.org the preview is live in 72 hours and it costs nothing to see it. That is a real designed site on a real URL, not a mockup in a slide, and the decision to pay comes after looking at it rather than before. The eight builds in The Website Factory were all produced the same way, which is why every one of them has a live link and a screen-recorded walkthrough attached.

Does this work for a company that sells to Fortune 500 buyers rather than homeowners?

Access Technology Systems is the case for it. The Carrollton, Texas integrator has been securing facilities for Fortune 500 manufacturers, federal agencies and critical-infrastructure operators since 2002, and its site read like a business card. Enterprise buyers check the same things homeowners do, they just check harder: what you actually do, who else trusts you, and whether the site looks like it belongs to a company that has been running for 24 years.

Why would a practice with decades of repeat clients need a new site at all?

Because repeat clients are not the audience. Dr. Jennifer LeSure, CPA & Co in Carmel, Indiana has decades of them, and none of them read the website. The site is for the person who has not met the firm yet and is deciding whether to call, and that person is comparing three tabs on a phone. A practice that is already trusted by everyone who knows it has the easiest version of this problem, because everything the site needs to say is already true.

What if the site ships with something broken on it?

Two of these eight currently do, and both are named on this page rather than buried. Change-Well's counter badge reads zero licensed clinicians while the body copy says six, because the count-up never fires. Melada Construction's hero paints blank for roughly three seconds before the image lands. Both are known, both are unfixed as of 15 August 2026, and neither is the kind of thing a client should have to discover for themselves.
